Celebrate the season and the first (official) collaboration of Rebecca Cheeks Soule + Jennifer Vagios with a very special evening of Yoga + Sound at ISHTA Yoga. Rebecca will lead you through a yoga practice thoughtfully designed and perfectly complimented by Jennifer’s exquisite vocals and instrumentation. The experience is designed for you to warm and open your body from the core outward, so that you can rest peacefully, and ultimately turn inward to a blissful meditation. You will leave feeling refreshed and completely restored.
The power of sound is prolific: from rap, gospel, Hebrew cantors, Benedictine monks, to the mantra of ancient yoga, music is used in every form to express protest, freedom, worship and devotion. It is no wonder that yogis and healers have been using sound to effect well being and energy for thousands of years: it works. We will take this evening of sound and asana to release knots and experience freedom.
The granthis, or knots that bind us, and prevent energy, or prana, from moving freely up our main energy path, or sushumna nadi. In this 2-hour class you will learn more about these knots and how to release them. The asana practice will include introduction of bandhas, and be combined with mantra-based vocals and music. Next we will move into restorative yoga, all of this to facilitate release of physical and energetic knots throughout the body. Finally, sit in meditation and experience movement of energy into and upward through sushumna as you meditate with the sounding of Jennifer’s voice and bowls.
