Raga Revelry: A Journey Through North Indian Classical Music Film Screening and Q&A
Raga Revelry, a calling card for India, showcases the gift of the spiritual philosophy underlying the yoga tradition through North Indian classical music, often referred to as Raga music. This centuries-old and unwritten heritage, preserved through the dedication of musicians across faiths and cultures, evokes a vivid range of emotions and moods and invites the listener to go beyond a limited perspective of self-awareness.
Through one man’s quest to create a permanent sanctuary for this valuable inheritance, we are taken to the heart of Indian spirituality and culture. Woven into the narrative are fundamental music-appreciation concepts imparted by the award-winning and renowned musicologist Vijay Kichlu. He says, “Our music is not meant for just external consumption. It is supposed to travel deeper and touch the soul, where the listener forgets himself, overcomes his own personality, and sometimes feels his physical senses cease to function.”
