Restorative / Yoga Nidra Workshop to Balance Ajna Chakra
Date: Friday, September 20th | 2:30 – 5:00pm
Tap Into Your Center of Intuition!
Ajna chakra, or our “third eye,” is the lens through which we make sense of the world around us. While we take in the external world through our eyes our “third eye” interprets what we see giving it meaning. When this energy center is open and balanced we’re intuitive, imaginative, able to visualize and can see things clearly. When this energy center is blocked, ie when it is under active (tamasic), we get stuck in our own belief systems and see the world through them. We tend to think we’re always right and are unable to imagine change. When this energy center is in excess (rajasic) we can be delusional and have difficulty differentiating truth from fantasy. The entire practice including the asana, restorative poses, visualizations and yoga nidra will be designed to open our “third eye”.
The practice will begin with a gentle guided vinyasa and stretching to release stress in the breath and tension from muscles and joints. Participants will then recline on bolsters to the sound of soothing music, the aroma of essential oils and gentle hands on adjustments. Each restorative pose will be held for about ten to fifteen minutes. The workshop will end with a twenty minute long yoga nidra, a meditation technique based on an ancient tantric technique called Nyasa and practiced in savasana.
