This 20 Hour training is for teachers, teacher trainees, and students interested in delving deeper into restorative yoga. Participants will learn how to teach restorative yoga, develop their own home practice and get the opportunity during the training to give and receive a private while getting support from both Mona and Gina.
Students will learn how to create a practice and how to apply it therapeutically for stress related illnesses such as asthma, or bad back, the issues related to pregnancy and more scenarios. This training will focus on developing practical skills. Trainees will work with fellow students to develop an “eye” to see physical misalignments and know how to adjust them. Trainees will practice tuning into the subtle energetic field of their students, learn hands on adjustments, practice teach restorative poses and yoga nidra, and also experience two restorative classes, one with Gina and one with Mona.
The training will cover:
- The science behind restorative yoga
- How to teach restorative yoga including the benefits and contradictions of key poses.
- How to work with a variety of props in restorative poses for classes, privates and a home practice.
- Hands on adjustments.
- Class Sequencing
- How to design and modify a restorative practice for specific issues
- Basic understanding and how to teach Yoga Nidra
- Introduction to essential oil uses

About Gina Menza
After twenty years of teaching yoga, Gina has learned the importance of balancing the active side of one’s yoga practice with the quiet solitude of a restorative sequence. She has learned to balance the frenetic and exquisitely fun energy of raising three kids in New York City with the refueling and restoring rest necessary to survive. Gina has taught in innumerable places; from classrooms in Los Angeles California, sidewalks in Times Square new York City, studios in Stockholm, Sweden and beachside in Goa, India. Gina has also designed the prenatal material used in both the 200 & 300 hour ISHTA trainings as well as creating her own Yoga Alliance registered prenatal school, which holds its 85-hour intensive trainings in New York City.

About Mona Anand
Mona is a co-owner of ISHTA Yoga and a Yogiraj or yoga master in the ISHTA lineage. She is a Senior Trainer in ISHTA’s 500 Hour Global Teacher Trainings and has also designed her own yoga nidra trainings, which are taught around the world. She has four yoga nidra CD’s, Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation or sleep; to lift your spirits; to ground and center and a double CD incorporating asana and yoga nidra to balance the muladhara chakra. Her recordings and CDs are available on iTunes, ISHTA Yoga, Yogobe and numerous online yoga sites. She co-leads Restorative Trainings, ”Anand Menza Restorative”, taught at ISHTA and around the world. For over a decade she has been teaching her signature Restorative/Yoga Nidra Chakra Workshop series and Ayurveda series.
Mona currently teaches group classes at ISHTA Yoga and leads yoga retreats to India and around the world. She has a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University and lives with her husband and two daughters in New York City.
