TLC for your Neck and Shoulders – A Workshop with Hillevi Borga

It’s been over a year of working from home, spending hours and hours on Zoom, and striving to meet those deadlines in front of your laptop by the kitchen table – and you may be lacking prerequisites for good and comfortable ergonomic settings.

No longer having those natural breaks of chatting with colleagues, standing up to fetch something in another room of the office, or actually going to a physical meeting – how are your neck and shoulders? Does balancing the head on the neck feel light and easy, or more like the task of Atlas who according to the Greek mythology was carrying the Earth on his shoulders?

The last year has probably taken a toll on all of us in so many perspectives, of course not only the physical aspect of your being.

Yoga is a great practice to have in your repertoire when you are stressed out, in a funk, or need to move, yes overall handling a lot of stuff that goes on in our lives. Maybe your practice is already serving you well on all levels. But if you still are struggling with those tense, stiff, achy shoulders and neck -you might want to add on something to your practice.

In this workshop we are going to explore some tricks and tools to release tension and accumulative stress that sits in the neck and shoulder area as a result of too much time in front of the screen and bad postural habits. The tools we will work with in this workshop, can easily be incorporated in a yoga class or just serve as simple exercises done during the day, to change patterns of tension, to regain mobility and add some ease to that commonly so overloaded part of the body.
