Yoga for Musicians
(and other artists)
“The whole world is a work of art … and we are the words; we are the music…”— Virginia Woolf
Join musicians and yoga teachers Peter Ferko and Phil Schuster in an introduction to a yoga practice tailored to you.
The parallels between art-making and yoga are striking, and the benefits to musicians (and other artists) of having a yoga practice are profound. Yoga helps with practice, performance, writing, life on the road, and perspective on career and work/life balance.
A yoga practice can help:
• Improve creativity
• Reduce anxiety and stress
• Break through writer’s block and other resistance
• Improve concentration and memory
• Increase physical ease and stamina during performance
• Create space for transformation and integration of new patterns
Many artists are using yoga to gain physical and other benefits, but others have been intimidated by the stereotypes of acrobatics and “flexibility” that is supposed to be a requirement of yoga. In fact, yoga is completely adjustable to each individual, so anyone can gain benefits from a modern approach to this ancient practice.
This introductory workshop is for first-time students and practicing yogis who are interested in learning how yoga can serve artists — no matter how “flexible” they are, or their current physical condition and temperament. In a completely safe and open space, Peter and Phil will talk about yoga as a creative aid, a physical maintenance practice, and a philosophy that can help you build a healthy creative life. They will then lead a practice with lots of individual attention and a meditation geared toward creating ease and flow.
Don’t miss this opportunity to help your art transcend limitation.
