If the summer has you feeling overheated and aggravated, this workshop filled with yummy restorative poses, cooling pranayama, relaxing visuals, healing sound therapy and a deliciously long yoga nidra will help you release excess heat and surrender into a deep state of relaxation.

A practice designed to help cool us down and surrender when we’re feeling overheated, easily aggravated and on overdrive. In the Ayurvedic system we are made up of five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. We each have our unique mix of these elements that make up our physical and mental constitution. When our pitta is in excess we feel overheated, we tend to get irritable more easily and continuously push ourselves. We have trouble surrendering and can be harsh critics of ourselves + others. In this workshop the asanas, pranayama, restorative poses and yoga nidra are all selected to release excess heat from the body, breath, and mind.

The practice will begin with gentle asana to help us slow down and release heat from the abdomen where excess fire accumulates. Participants will then recline on bolsters to the sound of rain sticks that will help release heat from fascia and tense muscles. We will use cooling oils with gentle hands on adjustments to induce a state of deep surrender.

Throughout the practice we will use pranayama, visualizations and kriya techniques to help release tension in the subtler vibratory fields that make up who you are. The instrument, Divya Svara, will help you feel and connect to your inner vibration and slow down your brain waves in preparation for yoga nidra.
The practice will end with a forty minute long yoga nidra. All nine steps of the yoga nidra will help you surrender into stillness and experience an expanded state of awareness. We hope you can join us!
The workshop will be followed by an ISHTA Community Event in the studio – featuring pitta balancing desserts and pitta cooling beverages! In studio – $40 EB / $50 Day of. Live stream – $30 / $40 Day of.  Special rates for ISHTA Acharya, 50% off day of rate for ISHTA Members. Questions? Email Rumika@ishtayoga.com
