A practice designed to ground and center and release anxiety and restlessness as we move into the fall.

In the Ayurvedic system we are made up five elements: earth, water, fire, air and space. We each have our unique mix of these elements which make up our physical and mental constitution. Disease is caused when there is an imbalance in the mix of these elements from our unique imprint of these elements at birth. The seasons as well as our lifestyles and stresses effect the mix of these elements. In the fall the air and space element tend to increase – we call this a vata condition. When our vata is in excess we have trouble focusing and being still and can feel anxious, restless and fearful.

This workshop is designed to help release excess vata from your body and mind. The practice, including the asanas, pranayamas, restorative poses and yoga nidra are selected to quiet and calm the nervous system and bring stillness and clarity into your fall. The practice will begin with gentle asana to release tension from the hips, lower back and joints where vata tends to accumulate. The focus in the asana will also be to slow down and remove any holding patterns in the breath. The restorative pose selected will help slow down the mind and let go of any anxiety and fear held in the body. The practice will end with a thirty minute long yoga nidra designed to release excess vata. Through out the practice, visualizations, essential oils and gentle hands on adjustments will help guide you to a place of deep stillness.

Bio: Mona Anand is a co-owner of ISHTA Yoga and a Yogiraj or yoga master in the ISHTA lineage. She is a Senior Trainer in ISHTA’s 500 Hour Teacher Training and has also designed two yoga nidra trainings, “Mona Anand’s ISHTA Yoga Nidra,” and “Yoga Nidra and The Chakras” She has released four yoga nidra CD’s for different purposes that included deep relaxation or sleep, to lift your spirits, to ground and center and to balance the muladhara chakra. They are available on iTunes and numerous online yoga sites and sold at ISHTA Yoga. Mona also co-leads a restorative trainings, “Anand Menza Restorative,” taught around the world. For over a decade she has been teaching her signature Restorative/Yoga Nidra Chakra Workshop series and Ayurveda series.

Mona grew up in Mumbai, India where she was first introduced to yoga. She has a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University and currently lives in nyc with her husband and two daughters.

$40 in advance, $50 day of.

Cancellation policy: Full pre-payment at the time of enrollment is required to reserve a space in workshops. Refunds or cancellations are available up to 48 hours prior to date of workshop.
