A workshop designed to ground and center, release layers of inner tension and bring what lies in our roots to consciousness. Yoga Nidra Practice – “The Tree of Life”
The Muladhara Chakra is the energy center that governs our survival and the way we manage our day to day living– our family, occupation, money etc. Continual stress for an extended period of time can lead to an imbalance in this energetic center. It can manifest as feeling fearful and anxious, acking focus and feeling disconnected from our bodies or the opposite where we feel lethargic, depressed and unable to adapt to changes in our lives. When this energetic center is balanced we feel grounded, relaxed and able to manage the demands and changes in our daily lives.
The practice will begin with pranayama to relax the body and mind followed by gentle asana focusing primarily on the legs, which is the segment of the body governed by the Muladhara chakra. Participants will then recline on bolsters to release habitual contraction in the body, breath and mind. The workshop will end with a forty minute long yoga nidra practice called “The Tree of Life”, that will help us feel connected to the generations that have come before and have each had their own challenges to face. We will focus on releasing memories and experiences carried in our subconscious and unconscious and in our DNA, which colors our ability to see things clearly. The entire practice, including the asana, pranayama, restorative poses, visualizations and yoga nidra are all designed to help us deeply relax and release layers of inner tension, connect to our bodies and bring what lies in our roots to consciousness.
