Sweat, Samadhi, and the Senses
The 5 senses in Sanskrit are known as the pancha tanmatras, which also translates to “mother of matter.” When we awaken our sensory realm, we are able to experience the true nature of the universe. Join Sarah Platt-Finger for a luxurious practice that will awaken you to the present moment through the power of the senses. The session will begin with a sampling of an Ayurvedic 3-step ritual to purify and stimulate the sense organs. We’ll then move through an intelligent asana flow using kriyas and heat building postures to help burn out the impurities trapped in the physical and subtle body. A series of relaxing restorative postures supported through gentle touch will follow in order to calm the nervous system. The session will close with a profound meditation to quiet the mind and lead you back to the source of your true nature, which is infinite and unbounded.
Through the use of essential oils, sound, touch, and visualization, this class will stimulate different neural pathways in the brain and awaken different modes of consciousness. The practice will serve to enhance the 5 five senses and bring you back in touch with your own natural essence. Experience outer and inner resonance as a means to lead you back to your source of pure potential – Samadhi – which is the true state of yoga.
Tuesday, August 8th, 4 – 6pm. Live in-studio only.
