Unbound Yoga Sutras Foundation Training with Wendy Newton
The yoga described by Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras is an ancient body of spiritual wisdom that is meant to be spoken and received among yoga practitioners. Practiced in this way, the wisdom conveys as a living practice, full of shakti, to each individual throughout generations of a lineage.
Reading and working with this wisdom in a creative and experiential way opens us up to new possibilities of real life transformation. Becoming aware of and learning to create space around our mental, emotional, and physical patterns allows us to touch the unbound intelligence that is at our core. When we learn to weave this perspective into the fabric of our living, we call this freedom.
In her new Unbound Yoga Sutras foundational six-week course, Yogiraj Wendy Newton offers a unique process of collective and individual engagement with the Sutras that empowers yoga practitioners and teachers to deepen personal insight into the teachings. Wendy’s approach to the Sutras is sourced from her profound dive into the Sutras under the guidance of Alan Finger during the writing of Tantra of the Yoga Sutras and refined over many years teaching the Sutras in ISHTA’s teacher training and workshop programs.
The course will be structured so that participants can digest the material in a variety of ways and at their own pace. Readings will be given ahead, and class time will be used for lecture, discussion, and practice. In between classes, students will be given experiential “homework” and asked to keep a practice journal for the duration of the program.
This course is for all yoga practitioners, meditators, and seekers who want a new perspective on the wisdom teachings underlying the practice of yoga and all yoga teachers who want to enrich the wellspring from which they share their practice.
Dates and Times: We will meet online on Tuesdays, with four Saturday Q + A sessions (all online). To ensure a cohesive learning community, the course must be taken as a whole. Recordings will be available, but participation in real time is required for at least five of the eight classes to receive a certificate of completion.
