"Vision without action is a daydream but action without vision is a nightmare."

Our ISHTA Hampton's retreat is right around the corner and I'm really excited to be leading this retreat with Peter Ferko and Wendy Newton! I first met Peter and Wendy 23 years ago in our 200 hour training and we went on to take the 300 hour together and currently co-lead ISHTA trainings, including our upcoming Summer 200 Hour Intensive. This is, however, the first time we’re leading a retreat together which makes it very special!
On this retreat, each of us will be leading satsungs or group chats covering areas that are our specialties. I will be focusing on yoga nidra. My classes will include in-depth nidra practices and we will reflect on the experiences we have in these practices and the revelations and insights they often bring.
The practice of yoga nidra helps guide us into the hypnagogic state—a magical space, in-between being asleep and being awake, that we naturally pass through just before falling asleep. Typically, we spend about three to five minutes in this state, however, through the practice of nidra, we can learn to consciously extend the amount of time we spend in this space that gives us access to our intuition, deeper insights and inner wisdom.
For me, this state is a place I guide myself into before making any important decisions in my life. Even with less relevant decisions, if I’m unsure of what to do, this space offers a place to find clarity - it is as if the fog begins to clear and the answer reveals itself.
Rather than trying to come to decisions through logic and effort—the typical left-brain approach—nidra invites us to enter into a receptive space to tap into our inner wisdom. It enables us to soften, receive, and listen. When you're in this state, you have spontaneous insights and you begin to sense how life wants to move through you.
We’ll work with visualization, a powerful tool in helping to bring our dreams into manifestation. When in the state of yoga nidra it becomes easier to step out of our reality and see what we would really like to manifest. There is a quote that I like that says -
" Vision without action is a daydream but action without vision is a nightmare."
We will use our satsungs to discuss the steps we can take to bring our vision and intentions into manifestation.
This retreat is an opportunity to slow down, connect and spend time together with our community. We look forward to sharing it with you and to seeing what unfolds when we give ourselves space to receive and listen, and then direct our attention and energy to what really matters.
Love,
Mona
