Calling on Your Practice Now: a Hamptons retreat with Mona, Peter, and Wendy

Dear fellow yogis!

I began studying yoga in 1982, when I had moved from Washington, D.C. to Venice Beach, CA. A lot of change was going on in my life, and yoga provided a way for me back then that has continued to serve me since. More than anything, it has helped me find perspective. But it has also provided a deep well of inspiration.

That inspiration helped me in my exterior life, by giving me solutions to work and practical matters. And it helped me in my spiritual life, helping me make sense of my past upbringing and my ideals. It has now literally become my vocation as well as my avocation.

We all go through our own journeys, and I know you all come to yoga for similar reasons that I did. I know because I hear you asking really profound questions; I hear you say “Great, now,” when I ask how you are at the end of class; I hear your musings about wanting to learn more about some aspect of yoga, like mantra, meditation, Sanskrit, or applying yoga off the mat.

I’m trying, with my wise and knowledgeable colleagues Wendy and Mona, to offer what we think could really serve our community right now: a chance to gather close by to probe more deeply into the practice of yoga via mantra, nidra, yama and niyama, asana, and contemplation. All in an environment conducive to calm and joyfulness, and with the easy access to conversation and discussion that we can rarely indulge before and after classes.

We trust this opportunity to step back from doing, a retreat, will be a valuable use of your time and attention; we believe it will serve you and your greater community in the challenging period we find ourselves navigating. Please join us! Write retreats2025@ishtayoga.com with any questions.

Shanti Love,

Peter
