Yoga, breath work, soul inquiries within the collaboration of the theatre tool of universal ritual mask. Each unique and illuminating practice closes with a restorative sound meditation to bring a feeling of grounded harmony with nature.
*Students are asked to wear comfortable clothes for free gentle movement and bring a journal or notebook/pencil for self study/soul inquiries.
*Lightweight, sterile universal theatrical masks will be provided.
Post practice, students have joyfully expressed feeling transformed; feeling lighter and easier in their skin. They express the palpable feeling of safety and connection with themselves and humankind. About the presenters:
Rachel and Mel have been dear friends and yoga/spirit theatre collaborators for 20 years! They started their yoga journeys together in the back office of Be Yoga/YogaWorks NYC (now ISHTA yoga) in 2006. They have been inspiring each other and others together ever since!
Rachel Scott is a yoga teacher, teacher trainer and author based in Colorado who holds her first 500-hour yoga teacher training certification from ISHTA Yoga in New York City. A graduate of the American Conservatory Theatre's MFA program more than twenty years ago, she has had a lifelong passion for performance and embodiment. After working for a decade in the arts in New York City, San Francisco, and Vancouver, she shifted her focus to yoga and yoga education. As the Director of Teachers College for YYoga in Vancouver, she created their teacher training programs and oversaw the development of their continuing education programs. She earned her MSci in Instructional CSystems and Learning Technologies and is now an educational ally for teachers and studios worldwide who want support creating their educational programs. At the intersection of yoga and theatre is an attention to presence, persona, and relationship. Melanie Salvatore-August Mother, mentor, spirit theatre artist, ally, author and host of MelWelltv weekly yoga and meditation classes. Mel lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and is an international yoga teacher mentor for Chopra Yoga (The Gaja Collective). She has been a yoga teacher trainer helping devoted students teach yoga and make the world a better place since 2009. Her most recent book (Indie Book Award Finalist in Health 2021) Yoga to Support Immunity; a mind, body, breathing guide to whole health has been proudly translated into Italian (che bello!). She is also the author of other goodness books: Fierce Kindness; Be a Positive Force for Change and Kitchen Yoga; Simple Home Practices to Transform Mind, Body and Life connect with Mel at www.melaniesalvatoreaugust.com.
