Grounded and Connected: A 6-week Trauma-Informed Yoga Journey From Your Head Back Into Your Body

An Online Series with Mikaela Soldan
Sundays, October 18 - November 22, from 12-1:30PM

We spend so much of our lives in our heads.

Maybe the body has become an uncomfortable place to live in or everything just feel like TOO MUCH, and so we begin to inhabit the head, and gradually disconnect from the body.

Grounded & Connected is an invitation to gently come back. Over six weeks, we’ll explore somatics and trauma-informed yoga as a way of reconnecting with the body and developing a little more safety, choice, and connection from within.

We all carry some levels of trauma that shapes the way our nervous systems have defaulted to operate, and determines the survival patterns that keep us safe. We might have become the strong & independent high achiever, the people pleaser, the anxious one, the sarcastic and spiteful, or simply learned to numb what we feel.

There is nothing wrong with you for experiencing these things. These are understandable reactions to something that was too painful in the past to feel. And sometimes, the ways the body learned to protect you may no longer be quite as helpful as they once were.

Together, we’ll begin to get curious about those patterns. Rather than trying to fix or override the body, we’ll practice listening to it and slowly building a different relationship with it.

Over the six weeks, we’ll explore:

  • Befriending the body
Beginning to feel more at home in the body and developing a sense of curiosity rather than judgment.

  • Inner safety
Exploring what safety can feel like in the body and how we might create more of it.

  • The window of tolerance
Building resilience and capacity so we can meet the inevitable stresses, challenges, and joys of life with a little more flexibility.

  • Breath & the vagus nerve
Using breath, movement, and awareness to support regulation and connection.

  • Boundaries
Exploring the body’s signals around yes, no, enough, and not right now—and practicing what it feels like to stand up for ourselves from a place of greater somatic safety.

  • Resting in love
A gentle invitation to soften, receive, and rest. It might sound a little fluffy, but for a body that has spent a long time bracing, this kind of rest can be deeply nourishing.

The goal isn't that you will never feel anxious, overwhelmed, activated, or disconnected again. Rather, that you might have a little more space around those experiences.

That you might notice sooner when you've left your window of tolerance.

That you might find your way back to yourself more easily after a difficult conversation, a stressful day, a mean email, or someone ghosting you, whatever your trigger may be.

That you might feel more able to meet both the difficult and beautiful moments of life without losing connection to yourself.

Grounded and connected is designed to be a journey from disconnection, anxiety and inability to stand up for yourself to having a more regulated baseline, being able to meet challenges and joys with a sense of connection and being grounded in yourSelf.
